I created this using Glogster in order to show two different music magazine genres and how they are different as well as being similar. I chose a pop and an indie music magazine as they are quite different, yet quite similar. I have included things about the fonts, layout and colours... etc

Task 3 - File sharing
This is the article that I read:
http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/3028e704-fdd0-11e1-8fc3-00144feabdc0.html#axzz2nooVWpk3
The article that I read is about how file sharing affects the music industry and how they are trying to put a stop to it. In the UK, in the first six months of this year, more than 33million albums and about 10million singles were downloaded illegally using BitTorrent. Because of the illegal file sharing, there has been an annual loss in retail sales of more than £500million in the music industry. The article explores the issues of the UK downloading illegal music for free and expresses that music labels are worried about the damage of file sharing and what it will do to their long-term sales. They also explored that it is mainly under-30’s who are downloading music for free as they have grown up with the mind set that downloading music for free is alright. The music industry is now tackling this problem by getting the network providers to block file sharing websites. The number of users has declined by two thirds which shows that this action is affective. There are also take-down notices which are formal requests to remove music content from the web. The article also writes about how by 2014, internet service providers will be able to send warning letters to the users who download illegal music. Even though they are working to stop file sharing, they are also trying to find a way for users to download an easy-to-use legal download site. This article suggests that there should be a stop to file sharing as it is ruining the music industry. It also suggests that there should be an alternative website for users for how they download their music.

I created an album cover represnting the band called The XX. I chose this band as I thought it had potential creatively and also is a large music success. Personally, I designed this album to the factors that appeal towards me, so I have included pictures of The XX as it gave the audience a sense of who they are and their identity. This is the album I have designed to my liking.

Music festival poster - The Wireless Festival.
This is an example of a music festival poster that I created using glogster. I created this poster to advertise the wireless festival and what it is about. I included information such as the prices of the tickets, where it is, when it takes place, what artists would be perfomring and I also embeded a clip of the wireless festival so that the readers can have a feel of what the festival is like.

Magazine cover examples.
This is an example of different magazine covers that I created on Glogster. I created this to show different music genre magazines and how differently they are made from each other. I chose a pop, rock and classical magazine as they are very contrasting genres to each other with different layouts, fonts, colours...

Skins Fire - Part one review
I found this episode to be quite intriguing, with all it's mysterious feel to it. Effy works as a receptionist for a leading London Hedge Fund, which isn't doing her any good. She stumbles across crucial financial information relating to a troubled deal and embarks on an affair with her wealthy boss. Effy seems to take things for granted. He flat mate Naomi tried to stop her from ruining her life, but this was not possible. Tragedy strikes once Effy finds out that Naomi has cancer.
Skins is a teen drama, which reaches out to many teenagers for it's controversial story lines that have explored issues such as dysfunctional families, mental illness(eating disorders), adolescent sexuality, bullying, substance abuse and death. However, Skins Fire is the first episode from season seven and is much different from the older series as not all the characters are in this season from the previous ones. Season seven seems to explore the working world, as well as the characters adult hood and how they cope. Therefore, I feel as if this season reaches out to people in their late teens and possibly in their early twenties, but it is still a teen drama that does also relate to teenagers.
Effy is represented as quite a dull character, someone who is independent, quiet and nonchalant. This is because during the episode I found her quite tedious. For reasons such as the colour of her clothes, despite her dressing nicely, the way she was presented, her personality, and her surroundings. The crew have dressed Effy in blunt colours, such as blues, blacks, greys and the occasional white with pink. I think that this reflects her personality - a "not-so-happy" person, quite serious. I also found that her surroundings were quite dull, especially at work and this was as if it reflected how fed up she was with her job as she was surrounded by black colours and different shades of blues which reflects her personality - depressed?
Naomi Campbell is represented as an unemployed, free character. This is because during the episode I found her as a headstrong character as she does whatever pleases her. Naomi routinely smokes cannabis and hopes that one day she will become a comedian. Naomi's characteristics are presented through her clothes as well as her actions. For example, she wore a leopard print skirt to a casino with Effy and I find that this reflects her headstrong character, and the fact that she doesn't go to work and just drinks alcohol and smokes cannabis, also reflects her "free" character, and her headstrong character.
